The best things in life are free, right? That’s how I got this table set…for FREE. Thank you Craigslist, and lady who tried to sell the table, but got so sick of it being in her garage that she gave it away. I’m feeling a farmhouse table makeover coming on. hee hee hee.

Why I Love My HomeRight Finish Max Paint Sprayer

There’s no denying that when you find something that makes your life easier and affords you more time for other tasks or pleasures in life, the first thing you want to do is tell others about it so they can benefit too. That, my friends, is what this post is all about. A few weeks ago I shared with you how much I adored my new toy, a paint sprayer called the HomeRight Finish Max , when I worked on this farmhouse dinette set (this post described using paint and poly).

Well, now that summer’s here and I’m able to be outside more doing my work, I’m having a blast (literally!) getting furniture done lickety-split. For instance, I’ve had this baby highchair needing a facelift, and if you’ve ever painted a chair before, you know how un-fun it is to paint spindles.

Ugh… you’re constantly checking for drips, incessantly brushing hoping for an even coat, right? All these reasons are exactly why I love my HomeRight sprayer. Yay!!

Factory Finish with a Paint Sprayer

There are so many little things that delight my heart, truly. It can be as simple as my kids bringing me a sweet wildflower bouquet, a slice of homemade strawberry pie, or spending time in God’s word. Another one of my delights is sharing projects with you so I can empower you to try projects yourself. Who knows, maybe I’ll even help you learn something new. Today, I thought I would share a furniture makeover that will help you achieve a factory finish in a day. Sounds easy enough, right?

Dixie Dresser Before Makeover by Prodigal Pieces | www.prodigalpieces.com

This Mid Century Modern dresser (or credenza) was made by Dixie back in the Brady Bunch days. The Dixie line of furniture has stood the test of time and and still a coveted piece of furniture. This isn’t my first makeover of a Dixie piece, you see my French provincial set in this post.

I found this piece for today in almost mint condition, but somewhere along the line Read more

Broyhill Hutch Desk Refreshed with Removable Wallpaper

Do you have a bucket list? Ya know. A list that holds either coveted events, or places you’d like to go? In all the years I have been working on furniture, there are a few different types or styles of furniture that I haven’t had a chance to work on. Today, I’m taking one of them off my bucket list and showing with you how easily I refreshed this Broyhill hutch desk with my favorite sprayer and removable wallpaper. Yes, I did say removable.

Broyhill Hutch Desk Before Makeover by Prodigal Pieces | prodigalpieces.com

You might be wondering why a hutch desk would be on my bucket list. Well, they are versatile, functional, and are typically kinda boring like this one. I wanted to take a sort of ugly duckling and make it shine. This one in particular caught my eye because it had nice form and was a Broyhill hutch desk, however, it was dated. Don’t you just love the pressed acorns? I half expected a squirrel to scamper by Read more

Vintage Folding Chairs with Grain Sack Stencil

It often seems that when I find one good thing, I find multiples. And…just like a good junker, I can’t just take one. Nope, I gotta have ’em all. haha. You can understand this makes perfect sense when it comes to the vintage folding chairs, right? I mean, they’re meant to stay together as a family. {{just go with it and affirm. wink, wink}} (giveaway alert!)

First, I’d like to brush you up on your vintage folding chairs background (as if you had one). These beauties are made by Louis Rastetter & Sons of the The Solid Kumfort company. Also, it’s crazy that they can date as far back as 1900.

Upcycled Entertainment Center into Child’s Wardrobe

This is what happens when I head into the thrift store looking for a small project to work on. I didn’t find anything but pressed wood junk, and then there’s this big beast. I stop, I stare, I talk to myself. Do you do that? Well, after much discussion with me, myself, and I, I decided to haul this bad boy home. Meet my latest project…an upcycled entertainment center.
