My Modern Masters Metallic Paint Review

Back a few months ago, I was the winner of the Modern Masters prize for being their 5000th “like” on Facebook.  Boy, was I excited! I mean I love to paint, especially furniture that needs love, so of course I was giddy to receive $250 of product of my choosing.  You can read all about my Modern Masters metallic paint treasure here.

At the time, I was pregnant and it was the dead of winter (like -12 degree highs), so I wasn’t doing much furniture.  I looked over to my stash to ponder which piece would be blessed enough to receive the makeover.
I had just picked one out and it was warming up, but then baby came 6 weeks early.  Surprise!!  So happy to have her with us.

It’s that time again when I get excited to join my fellow Furniture Fixer Upper gals to share a project to inspire YOU. I’ll be sharing what they have for you in a bit. Until then, take a peek at this leggy gem of an antique buffet. Those Queen Anne legs get me every time!

Repurposed Farmhouse Metal Art

Who doesn’t love a good thrift store run, right? Recently, I came across a good load and included in it were these two metal farm animals – a cow and a rooster. I have an addiction, not only to farmhouse stuff, but also to quirky metal art and these fit the bill.

My belief is that these originally came from Hobby Lobby and they are actually lanterns. Each one has a spot where you can insert a votive candle and see the light peeking out of the holes. I had to giggle because the rooster was missing his legs and I thought…what am I going to do with that? My kids loved them and I knew I could find some sort of purpose for them.

In all of my repurposing projects, I head out to my stash and almost instantly something speaks to me. Here is what I dragged in…

Faux Zinc Finish with Paint

One of my favorite naturally occurring things on this planet is patina. But, “What’s patina?” you say. The definition by the book is, “a surface appearance of something grown beautiful especially with age or use”. Patina is what today’s post is all about…creating beauty without having to wait decades, years, or even days. I am going to show you how to take most anything, even a box store plastic planter like this one found at Wal-Mart for $21 look like faux zinc…

Today’s theme is all about Industrial…I love it. ♥ Normally, I would have done some sort of factory industrial-type build or makeover, but I chose to go a different route, and have a very fun Art Deco piece to show you today.
