What’s better than finding something for low cost? Getting to make it your own {{fist pump!!}} Seriously, you know how fun a treasure hunt as well as sharing with everyone what you paid for it. Check out this mini I found recently at a local ministry’s thrift store. I get to donate to help our community, I get to find treasures, AND I get to have some DIY fun. I say it’s time for a mini glass cabinet makeover!
While this is meant to hang on the wall, it really could be used anywhere. However, it’s pretty B.O.R.I.N.G in its current made in _ _ _ _ _ state. So, let’s up the ante and make it “new”, shall we?
THINK PINK
First, I’m not new to the glass cabinet makeover game. Take a peek at these:
With this one, however, want to give this some charm and character in a different way. In order to do that, I wipe it down with a vinegar water mixture of 1:2 to prep it for paint. Also, I remove all the hardware and glass, as well as the back.
Then, as soon as prepping is complete, I head outside to spray the cabinet as well as the back in two different colors. The backing is painted in a flat white for a future purpose. Meanwhile, I paint the cabinet in a rustic pink. I’m smitten with this color!
In addition, if you haven’t seen my previous uses of it, check them out HERE. It’s one of those colors I keep on hand. Last, as soon as the paint cures, I use my decoupage papers as previously seen in these posts, to cover the back panel of the cupboard using thinned school glue with a bit of water.
After that, it’s time to reassemble and see this cutie in action.
COMING UP ROSES
Finally, my mini glass cabinet makeover is complete and I’m loving the new look.
Yes, I have it resting on a surface although it is set up to be wall mounted. That just goes to show you can do with you want with YOUR decor.
The pink softens this up, but also even more the paper gives it an entire new feel. Additionally, I changed the teenie-tiny knob for a vintage porcelain one instead.
