Upcycled Bread Pan Caddy ~ DIY Storage

If you don’t already think I’m quirky in the way my brain works, just wait until you see what I did with this “junk”. Is it junk, really? You know it’s not. It’s what I adoringly call #trashure. Now, let’s have some fun and make an upcycled bread pan caddy. {{doing the cabbage patch}} Just thought I’d date myself a snip.

Old Bread Pans Before Upcycle | prodigalpieces.com

I’m sort of addicted to old bread pans because they have so many uses. Here are a few things I’ve created in years past. Can you guess what the pan is attached to in the second picture?

Okay, so up above in my first picture you’re looking at are a set of mini bread pans. I couldn’t resist their calling to me at the thrift store. Plus, a bit of yummy hardwood from my wood stash that my brother gave me.

My goal is to create a pair of upcycled bread pan caddies that can be used in any way you see fit. It just so happens that the two boards are already the same width. However, they are also the perfect length, but just need cut to size.

DIY TIME

After I used my miter saw to cut them, I used my drill to make holes for attaching the handle. And, then I also needed to add holes for the knob feet I’ll be adding. That center line will be for the ¾” width of the board I cut off for a handle.

Once I cut it, I then used my jig saw to cut out a handle shape.

I’m aiming for simple, so here is a rough idea of how it will be set up in the end…

THE REVEAL

After a bit more magic wand waving, here’s why I envisioned in my brain come to life. Ta da!

I’ve staged it here on my kitchen table with a salt & pepper set on one side and coasters on the other. However, it could be used in any way you see fit. Bathroom toiletries holder, kids crayon caddy, art supply storage…you get the idea.

  4. Evelyn says

    Very cute!!
What did you use to attach them to the wood? Did you glue them or screw them on or use some other means?

    • Larissa says

Yay! Thank you! I used self-drilling screws to mount them to the wood.

  5. Abby says

That’s such a cool idea! I love it!

    • Larissa says

Thanks, Abby! It was fun to find them, but even more so to repurpose them. Woot!

  6. Sandra Steele says

You are amazing and I am in awe at your ability to see outside the box and create things such as these with old bread pans! I look at things in a whole new light now thinking “what would Larissa do with this?”

  7. Becky says

I love a good caddy or tray! Well done! I have feeling it would get used for just about everything eventually, in my house. I swap stuff around a lot! ?

  8. JANET SCHEN says

I have some of these bread pans that I use when I make banana or zucchini bread. I love what you did with them! What is the one attached to in the picture above along with a horse shoe? Is it an old heater vent? Or some part from a car? I can’t quite figure it out! You inspire me to try new things.

    • Larissa says

Thanks so much, Janet. It’s so much fun for me to do. That is a corn sifter. A person would run a dried cob over it to remove the kernels that would fall out of the sifter into a bucket. 🙂
