It feels so good when my junkin’ days pay off like this one did. Â Do you ever have that happen to you…I mean, when you head out and score a piece that doesn’t really need touched or is exactly what you needed? Double-whamo with two desks in this instance.
While out doing the city-clean up run, I was ready to make a right-handed turn on a Y-shaped intersection when I glanced to the left to check for oncoming traffic…there it was. Â Perfectly retro desk!!!
GREEN
NEXT FIND
My son and I headed out for the third weekend of city-cleanup and on our first stop picked up this desk.  It was complete with glass top, at least it had a glass top. We loaded it up and leaned the glass on the side of the desk.
We also scored this mirror at the same stop which I put up front…
Just after we loaded up, we headed down a slightly curved street when CRASH!!! The drawers had come out of the desk and smashed into the glass, completely busting it up. Â We seriously were turning at a snail’s pace, but that was all it took.
Word to the wise: Turn drawer side of said furniture to the outside before loading glass. Â Uugh.
THE REVEAL
This desk was my answer to my prayers of needing a sewing desk to replace the tiny one I sold months earlier. Â I couldn’t find a single one anywhere that was what I needed.
How about you….and good treasure hunts lately?

Great finds! Our city does not allow free curb items anymore – they all go to the landfill. I shudder to think what treasures end up there. I am glad you saved the desks and the typewriter. Yes, I learned that glass-hauling lesson the hard way, also!

I love that second desk so much! I’ve been on the lookout for something similar to redo as a sewing machine table too. Yours is so lovely. Lucky girl 🙂

Awesome finds! I found you over on G+ with Anne Davis’ share and I’m so glad I did – definitely adding you to my Circles! You brought back fond memories – my first typewriter was that cute little Smith Corona Coronet Electric. Spent many hours in my room as a teenager playing Secretary! LOL
