Last week, I shared a pair of cupboard doors that were some of the last I had from my huge stash of nearly 75 doors. The door on the right because a garden goodie. (see HERE). Today, it’s all about the door on the left. It is about to become an upcycled pet organizer. woot! Let’s get our DIY on.
As I always say, if it’s made of solid wood, it has potential. Right? I mean you can cut, join, and refashion it into most anything you can come up with. For this project, I’m keeping it simple so you can recreate this for your own home too.
DIY TIME
First, I dig into my stash of reclaimed wood and pull out an oak plank. My younger brother gave me a sweet stash of hardwoods and this is from that loot. Since my cupboard door has a weathered finish, I wanted this board to match. And, just like in my last post, I used the natural reactive stain to create patina in an hour.
Isn’t that awesome how it looks aged? I tell ya, watching this stuff works gets my blood pumping. You should see my face…really. tee hee.
Then, I also pull out my last set of thrifted wood corbels and give those a coat of paint. Before I assemble it all, however, I just have to add some whimsy. Me and my typography are never far apart.
Last, but not least, I add a few of my favorite style hooks. You can see how I also used them in my video below.
THE REVEAL
Here it is! My upcycled pet organizer is amped up and ready to go.
Who says pet supplies and snacks have to be stuffed into a closet or a plastic bin. No way! hee hee. This is a sign similar to one I made for my in-laws for Christmas. Their beloved Labradors both passed away and they got a new puppy. Don’t you just love the saying, “All Food Must Go to THE LAB for Further Testing”?
My fellow DIY friends, my hope is inspiring you to get crafty with what you have on hand. It makes it fun and you can surely bless someone. If you’d like to make this your own, you find it and all my other items available in my online shop. (SOLD)
Also, pin and share to inspire others to do the same.
Up next, I’ll be sharing what I do with this impulse buy. shazaam! See it HERE.
