Being Home ~ Making the Most of Quarantine

So…are you feeling the stress of what’s going on in the world right now? Honestly, it’s hard not to. However, as I mentioned in this past post, it is a choice as to how we react to situations we’re faced with. Many of us are finding ourselves in a quarantine situation and are focused on being home. (giveaway alert)

I see it as a time to relish in many things. Funny thing for me is, that I feel like y’all are getting a taste of my blissful world. And I say that in all seriousness.

Smile – a free gift you can give to anyone

.When you’re passing someone on the street and they take a minute to look you in the eye and SMILE… that is undeniably priceless. Who knows what that person is dealing with at that moment in their head or has facing them in the rest of the day or week. You have that one opportunity to be a light.

Speaking the Truth No Matter What

Have you ever encountered a situation where someone is trying to keep you from speaking the truth? It can leave us questioning our motives, our purpose, and even our worth. That’s exactly when we need to speak up and NOT SHUT UP.

I’m going to share with you three different stories in my life where I have been under attack for speaking the truth. There are more than three instances, but

I am an Overcomer and so are YOU

Well, ladies and gents, I am on a new chapter in my health and wanted to update you. I wish I could say my new year started off with bang and I’m ready to take it all on. However, God is commanding my attention. With that I am proclaiming, “I am an overcomer”.

If you remember, I shared that back in November I had what I believed I to be signs of a stroke (a TIA). You can read that post HERE. I am not one to sit and wait for trouble. Over a year ago, two of my blogging friends had major strokes within a year of each other. Right then I began to research what causes stroke and how to avoid it. At that point I decided to

I Choose JOY Despite the Circumstance

It’s the most wonderful time of the year, right? We have those words pouring into our devices, our stores, our television ads, and even in our mailbox. How anyone could be unhappy when Christmas arrives is something that often leaves some questioning that person’s Christmas spirit. Unfortunately, there are life circumstances or insurmountable pressure to do it all that some will never understand that leave folks feeling joy-less. It’s just that subject I want to touch on today. I choose JOY despite what life throws at me.

Fall Pumpkin Button Art ~ Kids CREATE

Do you have any sweet memories related to buttons? I sure do. I remember a tin my mom had full of glorious treats to behold. There were all sorts of colors and shapes, with some even holding memories. As time passed, I nowΒ I have my own stash, and also have started my kids with their own as well. Today, my daughter and I are sharing the next episode of our Prodigal Pieces Kids CREATE. This time around we are creating fall pumpkin button art and few other designs too.

The best part about this project is the sky’s the limit. There’s no need to only make only fall decor, but rather open up your mind to whatever those buttons call you to create. However, since we’re in the thick of harvest season, my daughter and I wanted to do something related to

DIY Boot Rack Storage for Sanity’s Sake

We all have those places that need some…ahem…attention. You know what I’m talkin’ ’bout. Either a clutter spot or drop zone, or just an overall mess. Now this corner of my garage used to have more to it, but it had to go through a change. Let me explain how I got to our DIY boot rack, plus extra storage.

Pretend Play Grill from Upcycled Bread Box

I am definitely a kid a heart and love creating for kids. So, of course, when I first spied this stainless steel bread box at the thrift store I had an instant vision. Do you ever do that? I couldn’t get past that it needed to become a pretend play grill. Let’s have some DIY fun!

In the picture below, this was what I saw at the thrift store. I first thought that it actually was a pretend play grill set based on the fact that it was sitting on that cart. Because of that I actually walked past it thinking we didn’t need one of those. However, I came back around to

DIY Raised Bed Garden for City or Country Folk

It’s no surprise that living in Ohio gives us short growing seasons. Unless, of course, we have a greenhouse or hoop garden. However, that doesn’t mean we can’t make the most out of every day. Gardening can often only be visualized as out in the sprawling country. As beautiful as that sounds (and as much as I’d like that myself) that isn’t an option for many. We like to adhere to the #mowlessgrow more mentality and have parked our DIY raised garden bed smack in our front lawn of our city lot. {{gasp}}

Now, this doesn’t look so pretty at the moment, does it? About 6-7 years ago we dug up our sod, tilled, amended, and built this DIY raised garden bed with reclaimed barn wood. Our goal was to
