Is there Life After 40? ~ You bet there is!

Isn’t the title of this post funny? Here and there you see things titled this way and I have to chuckle. I mean who says that the joy of life stops after a certain age? Like do we just shrivel up into a corner of existence once we reach 40, 50, 60 and so on? I don’t think so. Today I am celebrating 42 years of LIFE on this earth. Join me for a bit of reminiscing and encouragement for you and me.

So, what’s with this over-the-hill thing? Yes, I realize I’m only 2 years over my own personal hill. tsk. But, let me tell ya, I’m not coasting down to some miry

Mudroom Update with DIY Storage

Do you ever have one of those projects that just seems like it keeps bugging you that it needs tweaking? Well, one of the best things about our home is the storage. Our home may be on the small side, but it is tweaked out for storage. A favorite feature is our mudroom. Today, I’m going to share (yet another) mudroom update. This is the third time around, but it’s high time we get it right!

Home is the Key ~ Helping Others Find Home

It is often we can take the most important things to us for granted. Take for instance that I wake up in a soft, cozy bed with my loves around me in my HOME. In the morning, I get out of bed while it’s still dark, and I pause to listen at each door. Hearing their breathing sends my heart soaring, and I say a small prayer of thanks. It’s at those times I am truly thankful for my family just being there, and for a place for us to dwell. There is no doubt, a home is the key. Unfortunately, in reality not everyone is afforded such a peaceful feeling as they might be struggling from day to day.

Christmas Finding Home Celebration

At this time of year there is much focus on the giving of gifts. It’s a wonderful, fuzzy feeling you get when you see someone you care about opens a gift you put time or thought into. However, I honestly, wish people would be in this mindset all year through, don’t you? Just think of what a better world it would be if we did. Today, we’re having a Christmas Finding Home celebration to keep that spirit alive.

God’s Grace ~ Sharing from the Heart

How often do you find yourself in a position to do an amazing thing for someone else? Maybe it’s just sharing a meal, or carrying groceries, or even taking care of a bill for someone. Whether BIG or small, all you do to showΒ  love to someone else really matters. Countless times I’ve been the recipient of someone else making time for me. It doesn’t go unnoticed and I yearn to pay it forward and go as BIG as I can. Daring to be different and showing love pays back tenfold. I’m sharing from the heart today of God’s grace in recent days.

Upcycled Magazine Rack into Book Caddy

I remember as a child that walking into the library was like walking into a gateway of intense adventure. That feeling you get when something fantastic was about to happen. Getting lost in book was the best feeling ever! Of course, as a mother, I’ve passed along the love of books to my children. Sadly though, our public libraries are dwindling, even closing. Today I’m trying to make an effort to bring back life to books. In my quirky kinda way, I’m turning this upcycled magazine rack into a book caddy. Hang with me now…there’s something for you too!

Not only was this was a hand-painted piece by someone back in 1980, but it was also falling apart. The sides were popping off and the center divider was completely detached. Nothing a little DIY can’t fix, right?

In case you missed the original post about the Finding Home program, head over to catch up and even nominate someone you think is a fit.
