DIY Crate Wagon ~ Planter, Display, Fun!

It’s truly a sad day when you actually have to throw something cherished away. This was one of my first every trashure finds on my very first city cleanup haul. You’re probably like…what is it?? ha! It was a broken down Conestoga wagon replica that has seen better days. Honestly, I hated to say goodbye to this thing, but instead of goodbye it was time for new. Let me show you how I re-created this by building my own DIY crate wagon.

You should have seen JC’s face (aka. husband) when I brought this home over 4 years ago. He was of the mind I should have left it there. meh. It was still intact and chippy good with rusted bliss. How could I leave it there? I think he will never full understand me and that’s okay because that translates to MORE FOR ME!

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, it sure is a blessing when people get you. My parents are always telling me they saw something they thought I would like to work on. They’ve blessed the kids and I a million times over with gift of things they found. My dad own several rental properties and one of the not-so-fun duties is cleaning up after someone who has torn apart his hard work.

Here is the aftermath of one of those instances.

A HOT MESS

Yep, a hot mess. Each winter we run through a WHOLE LOTTA firewood. This is our wood pile that is normally full to the brim. However, I snapped this at the beginning of spring when we can break out of our cabin fever and get outside to clean up winter mess. Normally this is covered with a giant tarp, so my kids stick their bikes here to keep them out of the weather as our shed is full too. (next on my hit list)

Since 2003, I have had the pleasure of looking out our dining area and seeing this…

Repurposed Changing Table Potting Bench

One thing I can’t resist is a good trashure find (ya know, one man’s trash is another woman’s treasure?). City clean-up was held recently and I mentioned how I was a good girl until I saw this haul. The next day was Sunday and on the way to church I spied something elseΒ face down on the ground. I was surprised no one wanted it, but I drove on to get to church. On my way home, however, I had no problem getting out in my good clothes and shovingΒ it in my car. Meet my new project – a repurposed changing table.
