Who doesn’t love a shortcut to a chore? We all have different tasks that need done on daily basis, and then there are those that we kinda keep pushing to the back-burner because, let’s face it…they’re no fun. I love a clean oven, but doing the cleaning is not one of my favorite things to do. However, having the right tools to get it done quickly, efficiently, and healthily are key. Remember my motto: #toolsoverjewels – oh yeah! I’m going to show you a chemical-free oven cleaning that is actually fun. Brace yourselves…hahaha.
My family of 8 is home 24/7 and we cook/bake our meals from scratch 3 times a day. We have installed a double oven in our kitchen remodel and it’s bliss to have that thing in tip-top shape. Our routine around here is I offer this job up to one of my older kids so they can earn an “extra pay check” and they are usually eager as I pay well since having time to give it the attention it needs is few and far between.
KITCHEN TALK
By the way, notice the faux brick treatment I was finally able to get done on our custom cabinet. We built this to house our oven as well as have storage above and below for all my baking needs. Happy mama! I am currently working on the laundry and the rest of the kitchen where the brick is as well. Stay tuned to see more with video tutorial to follow.

Okay, back to the cleaning. Not too long ago I’ve shared with you how I have cleaned our vehicles, and even knocked out all the tile and nasty in our bathroom with the HomeRight Steam Machine called the AutoRight. While this steam machine is labeled for vehicles, there is plenty of uses for it in and around your home. They do offer this different steam machine, but this one works just as well. This time around this baby is going to help me and my kids get a chemical-free oven cleaning done lickety-split. {{happy dance}}
The process is simple:
- Fill your HomeRight Steam Machine with distilled water until full.
- Attach the appropriate nozzle for the job.
- Plug in and activate the machine and let it reach full steam – yellow light turns off.
- Have a blast! Spray the dirt, grease, and grime away.
- Wipe clean with a soft cloth
- When done empty the Steam Machine and let dry before storing.
For fun and ease of understanding how awesome this chemical-free oven cleaning really can be.
GUNK AND GOO
Here is my upper oven is normal state, bottom is similar…a hot mess.
Not so pretty, eh? But I bet yours looks similar…hahaha. What to do? Grab that steam machine and have at it. I use different attachments for different purposes: (1) nozzle attachment for nooks and crevices (2) squeegee for glass and smooth surfaces (3) black bristle brush for scrubbing and overall dirt and grime.
The Tim the the Tool Man feeling you get when you see that nasty, blucky stuff going buh-bye is intense. I love it!
Wiping away all that leftover grime feel so good. I love my oven, but I love a clean oven even better. Don’t you?
CLEAN AS A WHISTLE
Now my oven is brighter, cleaner, safer, and ready to tackle what else my gang of 8 has to throw at it. Mmmm…happy mama here.
Just for reference, take a peek at this side-by-side shot of only cleaning for about 15-20 minutes. Woot!
It’s that nothing-can-stop-me-now feeling you get when something goes so well and quickly. My cooktop and refrigerator are next on the hit list, then my bathroom, and then my vehicles when in spring and fall. I love a versatile tool. Now…time for you to jump on this cleaning fun bandwagon.

Larissa, this is fabulous! I never imagined the steam machine could do such a great job on an oven. I am in a new rental so I would definitely do the oven first. 🙂
Your double oven storage is perfect!
Larissa says
When I first used it I was like…here goes a few hours of my life. haha…I was so delighted that it went soooo fast!
ColleenB.~Texas says
Looks like one mean cleaning machine. Sure done a wonderful job on your oven. ( A clean oven is a happy oven) :}
Think I would tackle my floors first; starting with the bathrooms and working my way into the kitchen.
Love your brick unit that you built for your double oven.
Thank You for this wonderful giveaway opportunity

We’re getting some sneak peaks at the kitchen! Loving it! Nice score on the used double oven. Until you told me the cabinet was faux brick I was scratchin’ my head about the drawers, I thought “That gal can do anything!”. (Which I do think nevertheless! I mean, you even make oven cleaning look so fun.)
Do you think the steam cleaning would be okay for a gas oven? If so count me in! If not, hey I have a lot of grout (another great idea, thanks!) I didn’t know I needed a Home Right Steam Machine! Thanks for the opportunity to win one!
Looking forward to seeing the rest of the kitchen soon!
Larissa says
Finally!! I can’t wait to show you the rest. Hahaha…yeah, I’m not that good. 😉 Yes, you can use it on gas, just don’t directly steam into the burners. Thanks, Paula.
MICHELLE GARRETT says
What a great machine! I never even thought about using a steam machine to clean my oven plus the many other things you could use this for! I am new to your web site and love your ways and style!
Larissa says
So happy to have you along for the fun, Michelle!
Doris Myrick says
I love steam cleaning! I don’t have one like this, would love to tackle my stove, shower and around toilets! Not to mention grout on my tile floors! I need one, hope I win, but good luck to everyone else! Have a blessed day!
Larissa says
It feels so good to get it done and not have the odor or hassle, isn’t it? Hope you win!
Maria says
Wow! This is awesome. My oven hasn’t been cleaned in a while because I hate using chemicals, so I’m definitely going to try this.
Larissa says
That was always the struggle for me too. No more! 😀
Lourdes says
Been wanting to try one of these machines. Now I’m convinced. Thanks Larissa, great post!

I’d start with my oven, followed by the refrigerator. What a great idea for cleaning an oven. I hate the smell you get from cleaning it. Yuck!
Larissa says
Yes, kinda nasty, isn’t it?
Norma Fisher says
I’m going to use this to clean my whole house, starting with my oven, then on to the bathroom. Yippee.

Larissa says
It’s fast become one of my essentials to have.
Judy Burnside says
Wow! Looks so much easier and cleaner than I have attempted. My last oven cleaning effort was using ammonia and plastic wrap, which was better than the store spray chemicals, but the fumes were still overwhelming. This looks so much easier on the hands and nose!! I am already imagining all the deep cleaning I would be doing throughout the house!!
Larissa says
Sounds like an awful adventure! hahaha… Yes, much easier and safer. 😀
Maureen Clipperton says
Wow, had no idea you could use a steam machine for the oven. That’s Awesome! I would love win it ,to try in my oven.

WOW!! I would love to clean my oven without any chemicals! I would love to win this little workhorse! Your new ovens, they didn’t come with a self-cleaning feature? Just curious. Thank you for sharing as always. And once I take all the holiday decorations down, I begin the annual purge/clean routine!! Nothing else to do in this weather!! Have a wonderful day!!
Larissa says
Yes, they have self-cleaning and they never quite get quite like I like it so I DIY it anyway…haha. Big surprise, right?
Tammy Shelton says
What a GREAT idea! I would tackle our oven first.
Larissa says
Yahoo! So glad you’ll give it a try. 🙂
Maria says
This would be awesome! I have a commercial stove with 2 ovens and 6 burners. That’s a lot of scrubbing to get the yuck off! What a time saver this could be.
Larissa says
I have 5 burner cooktop and the two ovens too…you know exactly what I mean. This rocks!
Susan says
Just like you, my oven needs cleaning as does my car. Since it is terribly cold here, the oven would be my first choice and when the weather warms, my auto.
Dare I say, that machine almost makes the chore seem fun? Blast the dirt!
Larissa says
Yes, vehicles on my spring hit list as soon as snow melts and mud goes buh-bye.
Michelle Wiederman says
Can I just say how much I love the Homeright brand?! They make life so much easier! Thank you Larissa, for always having such great quality posts and information for those of us who enjoy doing things ourselves! ❤️
Larissa says
I couldn’t agree more, Michelle. It makes it so awesome!
Rachel says
What a fantastic idea! I would clean my oven, cook top, showers, vehicles and so much more! How is it that you can steam clean your oven in a white shirt and not get a speck of grease on you! That is talent my friend! Great tutorial! I love the new cabinet too.
Larissa says
Actually…I did get a spot on my shirt of stuff and was hoping no one would notice…hee hee! It came out when I washed though. Whew!
Kristina says
What a neat little, powerful gadget! I would love one!
Larissa says
Sure does make life easier!
Jane says
I think I’ll start with the fridge. If I don’t win this, I’m going to check on buying one. I really need this machine!

Jennifee says
I need one!!
Larissa says
I wish I could give one to everyone!
Sheila says
I would love this to use in my car!
Larissa says
It makes it so much easier to clean and less waste of papertowels, etc.
Fran says
Brilliant! Car would be the first tackle – and so much easier!!
Larissa says
Yes, it sure is!
Linda says
I would use it in my oven for sure! Looks like it does an amazing job!!!!
Larissa says
Nothing better, I tell ya. 🙂
Michelle says
I have been thinking about purchasing a steam cleaner! Thanks for the introduction to this one. My cat likes to bring critters in the house (rodents, ugh) and I catch and release them outside, but sometimes they stay indoors long enough to leave “evidence”. I would probably steam clean the laundry room and cat box area of the house first and then move to the bathrooms. Now if you have any hints on training a cat….
Theresa says
Chemical oven cleaners are so scary-dangerous, it’s great to know that something safe will do the job so quickly and so well!
What would I use a steam machine on? Oh my… Living in a 1939 home that’s been a college rental for decades, umm, everything? Seriously, though, I would use it first on the grimey storm & outer windows and screens. Maybe then I can enjoy all the sunlight! ?
Cheryl Davidson says
My oven needs a good clean up too and this would make the job so much easier! ?
Larissa says
I think everyone’s does, so you are not alone, Cheryl. yeehaw!
Lisa Konieczke says
I would start with my oven! Man that was easy. I hate scrubbing the oven. This would be nice.
Larissa says
It was crazy easy. I love it!
kimmylouwho says
cleaning the oven actually looks fun with the steam machine!
Larissa says
It sure is! I am not kiddin…tee hee.
Darlene says
Looks like it could make cleaning fun 🙂
Larissa says
You nailed it! Makes it a breeze and blasting the dirt is so fulfilling….mwahahaha.
Nancy Carroll says
How awesome! Cleaning the oven is my most despised chore. This would be so fantastic! Thanks for the opportunity to win one!
Larissa says
It has never been fun to do, but so rewarding when done. This makes it fun both ways!
Stacey Roberson says
I love the brick look! My over needs a good cleaning, as well. But I would probably start with my bathroom tile.
Larissa says
Yay! I can’t wait to show you the rest.
Tammie says
What a great idea to clean the oven without chemicals! I wonder if a steam cleaner would work on the grout on my ceramic tile floors in my bathrooms? Right now the grout looks so dirty!!
Larissa says
Oh yes, I mentioned using it in my post as well as in my video. It rocks the grout! I need to do mine again too…sssshhh…
Patricia C says
I would also tackle cleaning my oven. I can’t clean my oven in the winter, when it gets the most use. I have read that cleaning your oven without the windows open can be very harmful to my cat.
Larissa says
With chemicals that is a concern, but with this thing no worries. yay!
Patricia C says
that’s what I love about the steam cleaner, I have family over for all the Holiday’s, my oven gets it dirtiest at this time of the year, and to have to wait until April to open the windows and clean the oven, is a pain.
Larissa says
I totally get it. I am patient, but not that patient….hahahaha!
Pamela says
I seriously need this, lol. I can’t tell you the last time I deep cleaned my oven and the chemicals, YUCK! I don’t know where you find the time to do all you do, you are one busy lady ❤
Larissa says
Busy, yes. Blessed, YES. Thank you, Pamela.
Holly says
I need to clean my oven so bad! This looks super amazing and fast! I need a steam cleaner now!
Larissa says
You would be amazed! 😀
Lynn says
Wow!! I definitely have to look into this! One of the worst things to do, clean the oven. Thanks for sharing this.
Larissa says
You sound like me. haha!
Suzanne says
Used to have one but I think the people who d3alt with my house firw threw it out. Loved it for floors and bathrooms.
Larissa says
Bummer! My friend had a house fire and what a pain she went through to get her stuff back that wasn’t even damaged. Oy!
Debbie says
I the distilled water to protect the steamer or does it have special cleaning properties? I would love this , especially since my oven is low and I need to be on my knees to clean it.
Larissa says
Distilled water is purified so the minerals are not in it and will not cause corrosion. It’s used in vehicles and such too.
Frances Batson says
C?leaning sprays are terrible for your lungs and sinuses. This would be great for so many places .
Larissa says
Yes, just awful. This is more my pace indeed.
Will G says
I would clean my oven.
Larissa says
Sweet!
Cindy B says
My oven is certainly a candidate for a good cleaning! The shower wall would be next!
Larissa says
I hear ya. It doesn’t take long!
Barbara Rivera says
I would LOVE to try this machine on my oven. Amazing!
Larissa says
Yippee! That’s the spirit!
Cherie says
Wonderful !! I’ve been making chemical free cleaning products for other parts of the house this past year. Thanks for sharing this great tip !
Larissa says
Yes, it’s the only way I do my work too. So much better.
Michelle says
I need one of these!!
Larissa says
I can’t say enough good about this machine.
Cindy Brannon says
My first project – toss up between the oven and the grout on my tile floors!
Leah Spencer says
My first project would be the shower~
Larissa says
Great idea!
Larissa says
Sounds like a game plan! So fun to have.
Susan G Paulson says
Hi Larissa! I love your posts and all your projects. You and I have the same likes I think…lol. Plus I think you may know my daughter, or not. She’s Melanie Alexander at Lost and Found Decor. You know, I love this steamer! It’s hard for me to say what I would clean first. I used to have a steamer a long time ago and sadly it died. I sure could use this one!
Larissa says
Yes, so cool! I think you would love it.
Penny says
I’d clean the grout in my tile floors
Larissa says
Always a chore that isn’t too fun unless you have the right tool.
Lisa Wilson says
I can’t get over how clean the glass is, that always seems to be the hardest to get clean. Awesome machine!
Larissa says
Yes, tell me about it! Smear, smear, smear…be gone! 😀
Barbara Mills says
If this machine works this great I would use it on my shower doors. I have a lot of hard water ? and soap scrum. I have tried everything. Nothing comes off plexiglass.
Larissa says
I had shower doors in our bath and removed them instantly when we moved in. Didn’t have a steamer! ahahaha.
Sheri says
My shower…or maybe my son’s shower ?…and then my tile floor…and all the bathrooms…my oven …and then I’d start working on my daughters-in-law’s cleaning ? I really want to try this and I really want it to work!
Larissa says
ha! I hear that!
Nicole Martin says
The first thing I would clean would be my oven! The self clean option stopped working, so it’s pretty filthy!
Larissa says
Bummer! I don’t even use mine as I like to clean this way instead. haha!
David says
thanks for the tutorial!
Larissa says
You bet! 😀
Rachel says
I would tackle the tile in my master bathroom shower.
Larissa says
This makes it so handy.
Kathy E. says
Wow, what a great difference! I’d tackle my ovens first too! They both need a good cleaning. Real bad.
Larissa says
I think we all are there as it typically isn’t the most fun chore to do. With this you can have a blast! 😀
Sarah Ramberg says
Ugh, cleaning my oven is on the to-do list AS WE SPEAK!! What a great idea to use the steam cleaner for it!
Larissa says
It makes that dreaded chore so much easier. Especially me with my torn rotator.
Kathi Heiser says
I’ve never used a steam cleaner before – I know they’re great on floors – but beyond that I can honestly say I have not given any thought about using one for anything else. I would never have thought about using one for oven cleaning or even imagined it would be that quick and easy. After seeing your results, the oven would definitely be the first thing I would tackle with a steam cleaner. It is waaaay overdue for a clean!
Larissa says
The sky’s the limit with this thing! I am not kidding either. If it can be cleaned you can steam clean it. 😉
Charlene says
Since I have a torn rotator cuff, among other health issues, this sure would be a lifesaver. The first thing I’d tackle is my oven then the shower walls.
Larissa says
I do too and that is why I hire out my kids in most instances. Now I can do it myself and not have the pain.
Lisa says
This is amazing! I remember sending the kids out of the house because of the chemical stench! 2 things I put off way too long- my oven and the upstairs shower. This machine would truly be a blessing!
Larissa says
I know exactly what you mean. I would use other natural cleaners and they always left a residue that drove me nuts.
Mary Kaiser says
I sooooo need to win this awesome tool!!! Thanks for having the contest.
Larissa says
You are most welcome, Mary.
Karen Baumgardner says
Wow, I would definitely have some projects for this as we are in remodel mode and cleaning up can be a real hassle. Thanks for the chance to win!
Larissa says
My pleasure, Karen.
Dan Dykstra says
If the steamer works as easily as you say, I would love to try it on our stove. Might try it on the shower walls too.
Larissa says
Well, I’m not lying, so it will do the job. 😉
Jessica says
I would probably take care of my oven too, and then tackle vehicles when it warms up. Looking forward to the cookie recipe!
Larissa says
I can’t wait till it warms up here to do some maintenance cleaning. The cookies never last long, and I can’t wait to share it with you!
Rebecca - Knoxville,TN says
Guessing the cleaning possibilities are endless with that little steam machine. Grout, upholstery and ovens? Sounds pretty awesome! Thanks for tips, and opportunity.
Larissa says
I am not kidding, it really is endless. Love tools!!
Starla says
Holy moly! What an awesome machine. I could definitely benefit from this.. desperately. I am in the process of starting a few projects at my grandmothers home. I live there now since she passed in 2016 and I think I would first tackle the bathroom with this steamer.. it seems incredible!
Larissa says
Sound like you need one for sure! It would make your job so much easier. Wish I had one for everyone!
Lisa says
That looks too easy! And maybe a little fun!!!!
Larissa says
You bet it’s fun! My kids think I’m funny of all the kicks I get out of it. haha!
Allen Gibson says
They really do work great for cleaning ovens but one thing to keep in mind, if your oven is cold, be careful of using hot steam on the glass. The sudden temperature change can shatter it. Also works great on grills. I miss the one I used to have. Havent had one in many years and going into withdraw.
Larissa says
They sure do. I hear ya on the withdrawal…I love this thing.
courtney b says
i would clean the carpets- they need them bad!!
thnks
