Do you have a green thumb? No worries if not because my project today will be perfect for fresh or faux displays. It’s all about getting crafty and I’m here to show you how in my latest video. We’re going to take our gardening to new heights by creating a DIY tiered planter that will give you the option to add French flair.

Larissa Haynes of Prodigal Pieces shows you how to create a DIY tiered planter in a day. Come see at prodigalpieces.com

The best part about this entire project is it can be tweaked to your liking in oodles of ways. I am going to demonstrate an aged French finish in my latest video, but as you will see the options are limitless.

DIY Garden Arbor with Faux Patina ~ Build Plans

If you are just joining in, we have been working in our back yard this summer giving it a much needed facelift. First, was our DIY compost bin, then our DIY fire pit. Today we are sharing the next stage of our renovations – our DIY garden arbor with play area. It began like this…

Back Yard Wood Pile Before Makeover | prodigalpieces.com

Yep, a hot mess. Each winter we run through a WHOLE LOTTA firewood. This is our wood pile that is normally full to the brim. However, I snapped this at the beginning of spring when we can break out of our cabin fever and get outside to clean up winter mess. Wooden Toys ~ It’s Time to Play!

In order to preserve some of that time, I tend to live vicariously through my children by creating all sorts of toys, especially dolls and wooden toys.

So, for this Trash to Treasure Tuesday (where my blogger friends and I share our thrifty makeovers the second Tuesday of each month) I am showing you how I made some special gifts for my littlest girl.

Cotton Branches ~ DIY Farmhouse Decor

I’m all about penny-pinching, and you know I love the rustic farmhouse style. When I wanted to add a bit of nature to my decor I thought of purchasing a few cotton branches from an online source. Then I found they were $10 a piece (that’s for one measly branch!), I said to myself, “It’s DIY time.”

To say that I’m stoked to make a vase full of cotton branches and a wreath for less than $4 is an understatment. Woo hoo! Who doesn’t love to save that kind of money? You also get the satisfaction of creating your own decor.

Want to make some of your own?  I’ve got three short and sweet video tutorials that will show you how. Read more
