What does one do when one spies these two for $11 total? Well, no questions asked that they fit perfectly in my cart. {{wink, wink}} As you can imagine, I want to give them both new lives to last for decades to come. Let’s start this thrifted side table makeover, shall we?
They’re both in disrepair and, honestly, not respected. So, with that, they are now mine to revive. Let’s go!!
MAKEOVER TIME
First, for today, I’m starting with this square “pie crust” table. I’ll say this one has more obvious signs of mistreatment. Not only is the finish worn all over, but also dings and dents as well.
As you can imagine, my sander and I are ready to play. Then, using a 150-grit paper and a gentle hand, I take off the finish on the top and ply shelf underneath.
aah… that’s better.
Thankfully, it wasn’t too much effort to get that finish off. Next, it’s time to add that little black dress to this thrifted side table. I have a seconds paint in eggshell finish that’s almost black. Finally, after two coats (letting cure between) and I’m happy with it.
DRESSING UP
After my makeover efforts are complete, I’m smitten with this classy table.
Isn’t it soooo much better now? In fact, the dark color really makes it a striking piece suitable for any room in the home as well as most any decor.
What is more, a huge thank you to my daughter for letting me stage this at her place. I found her the rattan shelf for free, the plants she rehomes from her workplace, and much of the extras she has are things I thrifted too. Likewise, ya gotta love a mama with connections!

Nice and sleek in its little black dress as you say. I’m wondering if I need to get something to make a mold to fix a spot on a table I have where the appliqué molding is missing. I was frustrated when I found that spot……anyway the table is darling and yay for your daughter to get her new digs decorated with help from mom!! First day of school here, I relented and sent our youngest back to public school at second semester last year. Not happy about it, but, we have to pick our battles.
