Industrial Chest of Drawers Redo ~ Rustic Style

When you’re out shopping do you sometimes buy two of something simply because it’s a good deal? I do! Especially when it comes to furniture. A local seller was offering two chests of drawers that were relatively the same size, but differed in appearance. This one below is my subject for today’s makeover. I’m going to show you how I not only repair this piece, but turn it into an industrial chest of drawers. (giveaway alert for my favorite brushes!!)

This particular dresser was looking like it was embarrassed – like it was red in the face. When JC brought it home I wasn’t exactly thrilled to see it as the owner didn’t describe it well. First, there was Read more

Now, I will be honest…I can’t stand the beanie baby craze, so I apologize to all of you who love them. They are cute, but I could never fathom having dozens of them. I call them dust catchers. Okay, so there’s that. hahaha.

This is a well made shelf, but no one wanted it for obvious reasons. I decided to have fun with this and recreate it all together. Consider yourself warned that I tend Read more

Curbside Piano Bench before Makeover by Prodigal Pieces | prodigalpieces.com

So, here’s how the story goes. My oldest, Mr. I, does daily exercise that takes him up and down the street many times. On one of his adventures he came home to tell me there was a piano a few houses down sitting curbside. Me, who has absolutely no room for another piano felt bad, but left it there.

Next day, neighbor comes over to tell me the same thing. I told him the same response that I had no interest in another large piece joining my “collection”, so there it sat. Then the next day my dad came bringing the items I showed in my last post and mentioned the piano. hahaha…see a trend? Well, I didn’t know all this time that there was a bench too, so I had him snag that for me since pickup of trash was that day.

I really hated to see a beautiful instrument go to the trash as I love to play piano and teach my children to do the same. However, I can’t save everything. sigh… The poor set had been left out in the rain Read more

Broken Changing Table Before | prodigalpieces.com

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, it sure is a blessing when people get you. My parents are always telling me they saw something they thought I would like to work on. They’ve blessed the kids and I a million times over with gift of things they found. My dad own several rental properties and one of the not-so-fun duties is cleaning up after someone who has torn apart his hard work.

Here is the aftermath of one of those instances. Read more

Repurposed Changing Table Potting Bench

One thing I can’t resist is a good trashure find (ya know, one man’s trash is another woman’s treasure?). City clean-up was held recently and I mentioned how I was a good girl until I saw this haul. The next day was Sunday and on the way to church I spied something else face down on the ground. I was surprised no one wanted it, but I drove on to get to church. On my way home, however, I had no problem getting out in my good clothes and shoving it in my car. Meet my new project – a repurposed changing table.
