When’s the last time you walked barefoot in the grass? The barefoot movement is real and GROWING FAST!
I meant to rhyme that, I did {{ahem}}.
While I’m not talking about giving up shoes altogether, however, I am referring to being as healthy as can be starting from the ground up – with our feet.
Let’s take a second, take your shoes/socks off and just look at your tootsies.
Are you happy with what you see… and feel?
About three years ago I didn’t like where I was headed, and I wanted to do something about it. Read my barefoot journey beginning HERE and read my shoe review HERE.
I’m officially turning never going back to conventional shoes EVER.
STARTING POINT
First, I’m not going to rehash what I’ve already discussed in my previous post linked above. However, I am continuing the story starting with this vlog (see all Life Updates HERE).
Whether it’s challenging myself, even when I don’t feel like it, or just trying something new, I’m excited to feel better and move in ways I haven’t known since a child.
Second, I’m not ashamed to say I love shoes and even have plans to make my own (stay tuned!).
Not only that, but also to see how my efforts are paying off HUGE and the fruits of my progress felt.
Yeah, feet can be… er… weird; I get it.
But to shove them into ridiculously tight shoes and negatively affect your entire chain only to need hip and knee replacement later in life is more than weird.
Not to mention that even in 1896 Thomas Edison knew.
FASHION AND FUNCTION
Additionally, as I’ve mentioned before, there’s no need to choose one or the other when there are so many choices as I demonstrate in my video.
Admittedly, these Origos are cuuuuute – yes?
What is more, I gotta tell ya that I truly have a BLAST with shoes and love to add to my collection (see my video as I discuss the brands I currently own or head HERE for a full list of shoes in all countries – I add as they come about).

Also, I mention compromise shoes and to name a few: Lems, Whitin, Saguaro, and Altra running shoes in specific models, to name a few.
MENDING
Last, but not least, I share with you two mending projects that I’ve been putting off.
Truthfully, I haven’t felt like it AND I’ve been very busy.
But… time is a’wastin’ and I need them done.
Unfortunately, both pairs are damaged.
To begin, the sandals I bought for $20 from a gal that just got them, and her puppy made a chew toy out of them – so OUCH.
In contrast, the wool Wildlings are my go-to shoes for walking Loula and just basic errands in winter. They’re so COZY!
However, just before I fractured my thumb, I also tripped and ripped a hole in the toe.
NOOOO!!
Well, I’m not a quitter, so I pull up my DIY big girl panties and fix these two right proper.
To begin, I whip out my embroidery floss stash and give them a barn owl cutie.
When I asked my kids what they thought, my son, Oscar, said, “Cute. And it kinda looks like bird poop”.
bwahahaha – at least the right genre!
Then, I tackle the GeaSoles sandals with leftover scrap from building this Pottery Barn bench knock-off HERE.
Not bad if I do say so myself {{wink, wink}}.
WRAP-UP
Well, are you feeling the barefoot movement pull yet?
Furthermore, you can start anywhere at any time at any age. Likewise, the best bet is beginning with exercises, finding (at minimum) open toe box, and stretching and moving.
We can move better and do better for our bodies. We DESERVE it! Leave some questions and comments below as well as pin and share to invite others along on this journey.

For some reason, my comment didn’t post…. Most likely operator error on my part!!! This was such an amazing post on so many levels!!! You managed to impart the feeling of “we can do anything!l”. You made me want to shed my shoes and head outside!!! How freeing!!! And your repairs??? Absolutely amazing and adorable!!! Watching you makes me want to try things I would never have thought to do on my own. You don’t just make it look easy, you tell the truth and inspire us to power on!!! So needed on days when I can hardly put one foot in front of the other. Thank you so much!! 🥰
I’ll take it any way I can get it. I love hearing from my readers. Thank you for not only making me smile again but also bringing joy to my heart. My passion is to share and inspire. {{hugs!!}}
