Rustic Farmhouse Wall Art from Flea Market Finds

Who knew such joy can be found in someone else’s junk, right? I mean, I’m all about trashure and potential seen in the left behind. But… I really get excited when I find a piece with potential. (like do a happy dance excited and look around to make sure no one else will take it or steal my idea. hahaha!) I’m a hoot to shop with, in case you didn’t know. Just ask my 6 kids who join me on every adventure. Take a look at this old barn screen because it’s going to be turned into rustic farmhouse wall art. Fun!

Flea Market Decor from Repurposed Finds

There are few things in life that I really get excited about. One of them is a true trashure hunt. Every so often I head to the flea market, not looking for the obvious, but the stuff that everyone overlooks. Ya know, the junk. Today, you are in for a treat! It’s Trash to Treasure Tuesday and I’m going to show you what I do with this pile o’ “junk” by turning into flea market decor. You’ll see what my gal friends are up to at the bottom, so sit back and enjoy.

Soda Crate Stand from Vintage Crates

It’s a good day when I feel like my time was well spent and I can look back and see all that I achieved – in big ways and small. I wasn’t planning on posting but once this week as I am trying to get projects around here done, particularly our kitchen remodel. But, I couldn’t resist the urge when I had this pile of vintage soda crates sitting on my step staring at me. And…when I had the idea to make a soda crate stand, I had to do it!

Can you blame me? When an idea hits, you run with it! I knew this would be simple to do and wouldn’t take much of my time. However, let me fill you in on a few things first.

It has been 10 looong months of working in our kitchen. My pots and pans are, for the most part, still in boxes. My laundry area has been a wreck as we waited for months for a plumber to show up. When he finally did, there were leaks Read more

Vintage Soda Crate Turned Foot Stool

Are you form-over-function or function-over-form? I am the latter for sure, which is why I have fun creating my functional pieces from repurposed finds. Earlier this week, I showed you how I took several flea market finds and created farmhouse decor, but I also promised to show you what I would do with that vintage soda crate in those finds. Check it out…

Certainly that vintage soda crate has potential just as-is. You could use it mounted to the wall as a rustic shelf, you could fill it with your collections on a table top for a vintage display, or even as a planter. But, when over the last few months, I was inspired by a replica of a vintage soda crate foot stool by Decor Steals.

I thought to myself, “Certainly, I could make that”. tsk.

So, off to my stash of gorgeous legs I went to find me a set, (no made in China stuff here!) and here is what I pulled out. Read more

Farmhouse Decor from Repurposed Flea Market Finds

If you know me at all, then you know I love a good thrift store run or flea market trip. Living in farm country affords me the luxury of finding all sorts of cool treasures that I love to repurpose into farmhouse decor. Take a look at what one of my recent fleatiquing trips afforded me.

Starting at the top left I got (I actually got more than this, but this is what I’m working with today):

  1. an old crate
  2. a grain/feed scoop
  3. two enamelware basins
  4. a screen/sifter
  5. 3 miniature Cake King pans

First, let’s start with that grain scoop. A farmer would have used this to fill feed troughs for his stock or a local bulk food store would serve up your grain order with it. What do YOU think it could be repurposed into? I instantly saw this…

Flea Market Finds ~ An Easy DIY Update

Flea market and garage sale season is in full swing (I call it fleatiquing) and I have to make myself stay home so I won’t overfill my house. Are you that way? I mean, who can pass up a good deal, especially when it’s a matter of pennies?

You can’t go wrong I tell ya, but sometimes a deal can be made better by giving it a quick update with a coat of paint. Some of the things we find may have been glorious at one point, but now they need to be brought up to date.

Enter in this vintage magazine rack and patio table…
