Woot! Woot! I’m excited because today I am taking part in the Swap It Like It’s Hot blog party where a huge group of 40 bloggers have an annual swap for some thrifted finds costing $10 or less. I send some goodies to a friend, while someone sends some to me, and we all get to see what each person does with them. Isn’t that fun?! Check out how I made a thrifted vanity set.
Here’s what I got from fellow DIY blogger, Erin Spain…

Hmm…now at first you make think that’s some pretty boring stuff, but I see potential. This collected assortments has sort of a general theme running through it, so I do the next best thing to bring it all together into a thrifted vanity set…PAINT. tee hee hee.
In order to prep these items, I use basic household rubbing alcohol to make sure the surface is clean.
My paint color of choice is this pearlized gorgeous color called Sea Mist by Rustoleum. You know my favorite furniture color is Aqua, so it was meant to be.
After a few coats, my vanity set was ready to go.
I added a bit of padded material to that game box and turned it into a jewelry box.
That color is perfect for this collection and I seriously can’t say enough how easy this was to put together.
And what doesn’t this vanity set look good paired with vintage books? tsk.
While normally my projects head to my shop, this set is staying with me. Doesn’t it look great in my bedroom?
Now, the next time you head to the thrift store, be sure to take a closer look and see how you can create your own budget decor. It’s a fun treasure hunt!
Do pin and share to inspire others to do the same – thanks! ♥
Now for my part of the swap…here is what I sent to Jamie at That’s My Letter.
Any guesses as to what she’ll create? Pop on over and see!
This swapping party has been going on all week, so be sure to check out all the fun inspiration from the first two days including today!

April 7, 2016 at 4:03 pmIt looks very pretty especially the way you have them displayed. I collect hammered aluminum and I don’t know if I could paint it, but I still think it looks pretty and actually if I see a piece that can’t be shined up I might give this a try especially the turquoise, one of my favorite colors.
April 6, 2016 at 5:43 pmI really had a hard time deciding, but I wanted a matched set, so paint it was since it had a bit of damage. Thanks so much, Patty!
