Yet another month flies by and it’s already the last Tuesday of the month which means its Reduce, Reuse, REFASHION time! To begin with, I’ve had this project in my head for quite some time. Are you a child of the corduroy era? You know… as a kid you would vip, vip, vip down the hall at school? You gotta love the 70’s and 80’s – a lost era of simplicity. As a matter of fact, this refashioned bib overalls project is on my design palette for a new look for moi.
Aren’t they cute? I love the pink, the chonky ribs, and jingly hardware. Yes, I’ve been on a sort of pink kick for the last few years and I’m lovin’ every bit of it. I’ve made a:
- pink jumper from a bedsheet
- customized hoodie from thrifted finds
- sling bag from a linen shirt
- painted my bathroom a blush pink
- painted my bedroom in a terra cotta red
Likewise, I’m also a fan of corduroy like when I made my corduroy hip bag from pants. Can you tell I have fun with fashion?
However, this… er… dress is too short for me. While I did wear this sort of thing in my teens, but now it’s uncomfortable and I want to sit on fabric not my flesh – eep!
With that, I head to the thrift store and get some pink/coral/blush/clay-colored goods and find these canvas culottes that will fit perfectly with what I’m after.
For a treat, see my adventure in action, watch the vlog below.

CUTTIN’ UP
First, I need to decide where to cut. I put on the culottes and bib dress and pin in a guesstimate way.
Then, I take the waistband of the culottes (cropped, baggy pants) off and set aside.
Indeed, Loula is there to remind me that she is more important than any work I have to do.

Also, after I have the waistband and belt loops removed (to be added on later), I cut the bib dress for this just kinda eyeballing it. Professional, I know. But I’ve done so many things like this that I’m confident.
Next, I close the zipper placket using a backstitch on the back two layers of fabric while leaving a bit of a flap on the front. (see video for more details)
Last, but not least, I attach the bib jumper top to the culotte bottom and then sew on the belt loops. I did, however, have to adjust the darts that are already on the back of the jumper. That way, the two pieces have darts in the same spot.
REFASHIONED FUN
Finally, my refashioned bib overalls are complete, and I had fun!
Not only do I enjoy this refashion time to do something different, but it also challenges me to get creative just for me. Do you ever do anything like that?
What is more, these bibs are so utterly comfy because of the stretchy fabric and the colors are the cherry on top.
Additionally, if you remember my cart above, here is some of the other fun finds that made me smile – button fly jeans and a cute shirt to lift my spirits.
As a matter of fact, I may not always feel like shining or laughing these days, but I’m trying to love on me. Hugs to you!
SHARE
Moreover, I’d love to hear from you. Have you ever refashioned something? It doesn’t have to be sewing as you can see in my project gallery. In addition, leave some comment love below and pin and share to inspire others!

Those are adorable!! You look good in pink, and the extra outfit with graphic T and button fly pants are equally as cute. So you just go ahead and shine girl!! I’ve also been on a pink kick since my breast cancer diagnosis back in Dec of 2020. I’m more of a coral pink though and I enjoy flamingos a lot- they don’t really fit my houses style right now but I’m in the mood for a change and bright colors are on the horizon. Everything right now is grey and bland and I’m over feeling sullen.
Thank you, Niki! I had such fun with this and making changes in many ways in my mind and heart. I think pink is sticking with me for the moment because as a child I loved pink, while my sister loved purple. Do you know WVERYTHING and every matching gift we got, she got pink, and I got purple from our narc parent? Even our rooms were painted purple for me and pink for her. It didn’t click for us until I discovered the narcissism. Insane.
WHAT VISION YOU HAVE!!! TRULY A GIFT. I LOVE WHAT YOU DID WITH BIB OVERALLS. AND YOU SECOND OUTFIT IS GREAT FIND. LOULA IS A GREAT COMPANION SHE WILL HELP YOU GET THROUGH TO THE OTHER SIDE OF THIS. YOU HAVE JUST HAD MORE THAN ONE EYE OPENING EVENT IN YOUR LIFE. JUST BE GOOD TO YOURSELF. I SPEAK FROM EXPERIENCE. MY WESTIE TOBY KEITH GOT ME THROUGH A REALLY DIFFICULT TIME, THE LOVE IS UNCONDITIONAL.
Robin, I do believe you just made my day brighter. Thank you! Yes, Loula is an answer to prayer and is my therapist in more ways than one. I love the name of Toby Keith! 🙂
As always, Larissa, you are so creatively talented!!!!!! Pink is a great color for you, so always have some in your wardrobe. Personal opinion — you are entirely TOO CUTE to wear baggy clothes!!! Don’t hide your natural beauty!! Love you!!!
tee hee! You’re too cute, Marti. Yes, for pinks in the softest shades. AND baggy is cute! 😉 I’ve always loved various styles and baggy to me is not only cute but comfy. 😀 Love you too! {{mwah}}
