‘Tis the season for finding good junk for not only cheap, but free! Spring is the time when people, like me, are ready to clean house and de-junkify their homes. Thrift stores start to bulge at the seams from the garage sale leftovers and curbs showcase #trashure to be had. Such a fun time! These two pieces below may not look like a match made in heaven, but they will become upcycled farmhouse decor. Stay with me now. tee hee.
It’s a fun day when I get to start my creative juices flowing with all the fantastic #trashure finds I find during city spring cleanup. One day in particular I was outside spray painting listening to all the junky trucks driving around our neighborhood as they shopped Curb le Chic. It was our quadrant’s turn and I was being a good girl staying home until the last day. My neighbor came over to ask me if I wanted seedling pots he was throwing out. As he was talking I looked at his pile and asked, “Is that a stool in your trash?” He replied, “No, an ash tray”. We walked over together to inspect his loot. Thus begins the story of my repurposed plant stand.
Do you ever find yourself walking through a garage sale or thrift store and spy something that you just can’t help feeling sorry for? Like, “Aww…poor thing, I must take you home and give you new life” kinda thing? That’s what happened to me when I saw this…let’s say “dated” to be nice, bamboo stand. I just had to give this thrifted plant stand a fresh new look. I want to show you how easy it can be to create the look you are after in your own home on a budget.

If you follow me on social media, you know that I have caused an injury to my right shoulder. It’s something that I knew would happen at some time or another because of all the factory and laborious jobs I’ve had with repetitive motions would catch up to me. I am taking it easy on it and researching my alternatives. Meanwhile, like the stubborn nut I am, …I’m using
Do you know that feeling of complete relaxation…that point that you just don’t want to move or else it will go away? That my friends is how I feel about sinking into my latest treat-to-
self family. ahem. Last week I showed you how I’ve been updating our patio decor. This week, take a look at the new beauty that has arrived to my outdoor decor. You don’t know backyard bliss until you have rested in a tufted hammock. Yes, not just any old hammock…a tufted hammock – a veritable mattress on ropes!. I must be dreaming…swoon.
You see, our other hammock was feasted upon by mice in our shed. It wouldn’t hold a the weight of a flea. It had been my oldest daughter’s gift and I felt so bad. My kids loved on this thing like none other and it added such fun to our backyard. I decided to surprise them. tee hee hee.
