Wahoo! It’s Trash to Treasure Tuesday time! Not only are my gal friends eager to share their latest inspiration, but also I’m excited to share. Eventually, you’ll see their posts in a bit. However, for my fun this month, I have this hot mess. haha. Meet my upcycled vintage shelf. Or, at least it going to be. tee hee.
I’m guessing this is from the 80’s or early 90’s at best. I love the whimsy of it, but feel that the parts here could be better used in a different way to suit today’s decor. Don’t you agree?
DIY TIME
First, I begin by taking apart this vintage shelf. There is oodles of potential and I can’t wait to make use of the parts. Initially, busting them apart is fairly easy. Besides, it’s also very therapeutic. haha.
After a bit of elbow grease fun, here it is all disassembled and ready for new life. Do you spy the potential?
First, to get this DIY party started, I begin with the birdhouses. They are pretty much good to go. However, I wanted to take them to new heights…literally. Enter in this dynamic thrifted duo.
A candle holder and antique insulator. woot! To start, I cut off those dowels and pop out the candle holder. Then, I attach one house to the pedestal with nails. Likewise, the other is created with the insulator with a scrap wood board below.
Next, it’s time to add some charm to these bits of my upcycled vintage shelf. Also, at the front, notice I added that dowel I cut off to each house as a stoop. After that, I add paint and character.
THE REVEAL
Finally, here is my upcycled vintage shelf in 4 new projects. {{fist pump}}
Did you see the 4 projects? First, the birdhouse pedestals…aren’t they CUTE? Undoubtedly, they’re much better than the original use. Then, in the background, you’ll see in the background the white picket fence box made out of the other pieces.
Additionally, it’s super simple and easy to use over a vase, a planter, a lamp…you get the idea. Last, but not least, the shelf.
Isn’t it all so fun? I must say that our gray Ohio days make me want to see happy in my home. Does that ever happen to you?
Ultimately, my goal is to inspire you. I want you to see that there is potential in most anything…really! In fact, if you’d like to own any of these creations, you can find them available in my online shop. (SOLD)
In addition, do pin and share my upcycled vintage shelf to inspire others to see potential in the cast-offs.
