Repurposed Door Mirror ~ Trashure Goodness

Curbside shopping is what I call a trashure hunt – that one’s man’s trash is MY treasure kinda thing. A few years ago I went on my first major trashure adventure with my oldest son and we scored huge. We got desks, dressers, cribs, old wood, and even this old front door with screen and glass insert. Would you have passed it by? Maybe you’ll change your mind when you see what I created for Trash to Treasure Tuesday. This the day where my blogger friends and I share our creations with you. Bring on my repurposed door mirror…and a giveaway for you! {{enter in dramatic music}}

You may remember that a few months ago I took the screen door and repurposed it into a chalkboard. The transformation and DIY tutorial are HERE.

Repurposed Changing Table Potting Bench

One thing I can’t resist is a good trashure find (ya know, one man’s trash is another woman’s treasure?). City clean-up was held recently and I mentioned how I was a good girl until I saw this haul. The next day was Sunday and on the way to church I spied something else face down on the ground. I was surprised no one wanted it, but I drove on to get to church. On my way home, however, I had no problem getting out in my good clothes and shoving it in my car. Meet my new project – a repurposed changing table.

Since I was really puzzled why it hadn’t been picked up yet, I gave it a good look before I decided to claim it. All I saw was missing Read more

Repurposed Cabinet Door Crate

Do you do a spring cleaning each year? For me, it seems like each month is spring with my family of 8 because I’m forever purging and cleaning. ha! Not complaining, just the truth. If I’m cleaning I know I have loved ones around me. Take for instance my workshop, full of goodies ready to become something new. These doors came off of a buffet that my son completed HERE (you seriously have to see it!). We promised to show you this repurposed cabinet door project. Oh, and we have a WINNER for the Zibra prize package!

Cupboard Doors Before Repurposing | Prodigal Pieces | prodigalpieces.com

Because these doors had cracks where the hinges were, they became unusable as they were originally intended. However, are they trash? NO WAY. Trashure I say! I recently gave my own kitchen cupboard doors new life by turning them into Read more

DIY Quilt Rack from Repurposed Parts

Do you ever get inspiration from junk? I mean, like it just kinda begs to be made into something and the vision is real the minute you see it. JC, my husband, does not. Bless his heart…hahaha… He tries, but is one that needs some direction to see things in a different light. That is what I’m here for, right?! Take this set of bed posts and misfit table legs. Do you see anything there? Let me show you how I turn it into a DIY quilt rack.

First, here’s some background on these pieces. The set of spindle legs came from one of the greatest hauls I ever had. I mention it back in this post from 2014 where I scored Read more

DIY Storage from Repurposed Cupboard Doors

Mama on a mission here! I am a driven person, if you haven’t figured that out yet. mwahaha…and my workshop is getting an overhaul like noneother. Destashing the stash feels oh so good (and makes room for new, of course. tsk). I have had a small set of cupboard doors left over from from this pile of kitchen remodel goodness since forever and they finally are getting new life today. Time for some DIY storage!

Now, aside from the cupboard doors, you see a pair of bin pulls I yanked off a cheapie chest of drawers, and a pair of sofa legs from a curbside haul. So, I bet you’re now like…weird. hahaha… Read more

Kitchen Island Cart from Repurposed Materials

Do you ever feel the need to just purge and start fresh? That’s my life story. hahaha… I seem to be ever battling the need to destash my stash. People mean well when they give me stuff and I usually have a soft heart and take it. Then what…I store it forever and work like a mule trying to stay afloat. I’m not complaining, but have decided that this entire month is dedicated to tackling my workshop. No more furniture coming in (unless custom requested), no more anything until it is done. First up, I’m taking these louver doors and turning them into a repurposed kitchen island cart. Woot!

Notice the loot surrounding them. See what I mean? An awesome local friend gave these to me along with a chest of drawers (see the makeover HERE) and a dresser (thank you, Becky!). I have a thing for shutters and knew I could find some use for them. But…it’s already been over a year and they need Read more

Repurposed Bookcase Headboard Bench

It’s Trash to Treasure Tuesday! This is a fun time where my blogger friends and I get together to show you how we take some #trashure and turn it into something new. The subject of my post today is this twin headboard we bought as a part of a set. The dresser set was done in this post, and now it’s the headboard’s turn for some lovin’. Because of the design of this piece, I decided to turn it into a repurposed bookcase headboard bench complete with storage. Let me show ya what I did. PLUS, I have a giveaway for you!

Vintage Bookcase Headboard Before Makeover by Prodigal Pieces | prodigalpieces.com

At first, those built-in cubbies totally reminded me of nesting boxes or “bins” for chicken when flipped on its backside. I kept thinking I would be creating something along those lines, but the last few projects I did were wall related and I wanted to change it up. Something that struck me was that the board spanning the front Read more

Mug Rack with Shelf from Repurposed Pallet

Do you ever have projects that have to wait until you have time? I bet yours don’t take you nearly 3 years…at least I hope not! Back when I started blogging over 3 year ago, one of my first posts ever was how to create barn wood style shutters from pallets. It was a hit! Then, I shared my pallet clock, plate rack, and centerpiece trough. When I finished those pallet projects I had a piece of pallet left over that I didn’t get to. Well, today it becomes a repurposed mug rack. Trust me on this one, k?
