Heat Gun Wood Burning ~ Nordic Wooden Trees DIY

Though many think Christmas is the time to go all out, I say, why wait?Β  I mean, if you love to decorate, do it all the time. However, I don’t mean having a Christmas tree up all year (unless that floats your boat). What I do mean is decor can look awesome any time. I prefer to use elements that can be tweaked for any season or for any event. Today I’m sharing a new technique with heat gun wood burning. To give you an example, I’ve created this super easy craft for you to make. These Nordic wooden trees that are perfect for Christmas and all year long. All you need is one pine board. Woot!

Simple Christmas Decor ~ Rustic Farmhouse Style

After our Thanksgiving events each year, it has become our family tradition to decorate for Christmas. It mainly stemmed from the fact that this is the only weekend my husband, JC, gets an extra day off. And I figure since I take it down the day after, why not start a bit early. My main goal is for simple Christmas decor and this quilt I found at a garage sale is the key my whole schemeΒ this year.

Worn out Handmade Quilt becomes Upcycled Christmas Decor | Prodigal Pieces | www.prodigalpieces.com

When I saw it at a garage sale I got excited. I love old handmade quilts! However, I wasn’t to excited when I saw how worn it was with holes everywhere, even burns. I felt the history it had and bought it anyway knowing I could use it for some other purpose. While my original intent was to make things for my shop, I decided to Read more

My Christmas Wish to You

My week last week was supposed to be a staycation clean-a-thon, right? Instead it became a week-long series of trials that can really test ones strength. The weekend before my break my kids and I got a slight head cold and I complained, but I had no idea how slight that was in comparison to the events yet to come.

Finding true contentment in our daily grind by Prodigal Pieces www.prodigalpieces.com #prodigalpieces

If you follow me on social media, you know what I’m talking about. My kids were on board and were the most awesome helpers and we were knocking our project out of the park.

It was about the second day that my husband’s car died on the way home from work and I went to jump-start his car. The headache that event can be is nothing in comparison to following him home knowing it would soon die again, only to have your break line bust while driving. Yep, peddle to the floor and stressful as can be. Read more
