Antique Chest of Drawers ~ Hand-Painted Florals

It's been a fun run or making over the stash of furniture I purchased from a storage unit. If you need to catch up, you can see the previous pieces here: (1) Mid Century Modern dresser (2) antique dresser (3) waterfall chest. Now it's time for the last piece from that haul of goodies. Needless to ... READ the POST

Updated Art Deco Chest of Drawers by a Teen

Nothing makes me happier that to share a new project with you. However, when it's a project that is done by one of my kids, I get beyond excited, even giddy. My proud mama heart takes over and I it amazes me how hard they work to get the job done. For instance, take my oldest daughter's latest ... READ the POST

It never seems to fail that when I enter a thrift store searching for item A, I come out with items B, C, D E, F....you get the idea. So, is the solution to just not look for item A? Nah. Too much fun to run through the alphabet. hee hee. Does that happen to you? I went in looking for a chair and ... READ the POST

Vintage Chest Makeover with Prairie Style

Do you ever find yourself wondering what it was like to live in a certain time period? One era I am sure wondering if I had what it took to survive were the days of prairie life, the 1800's. Those folks had such determination to make it. While I sit at my desk with a screen full of comfort and ease, ... READ the POST

Distress Paint with Petroleum Jelly

Earlier this week I showed you this vintage chest of drawers and promised you a makeover. To begin with, I thought it would be fun to use this piece to show you how to easily distress paint to create texture and a feel of days gone by. By the way, this chest was featured in Woman's Day magazine - ... READ the POST

Card Catalog from Child’s Chest of Drawers

My coined word is #Trashure - one man's trash is another woman's treasure. I've been using it for ages and first debuted it a few years ago when I found a chest of drawers curbside. The subject for this makeover is a child's chest of drawers my daughter found sitting with the trash (aka trashure). ... READ the POST

Larissa looks at things with fresh eyes, she problem solves creatively, and I love how she uses her "stash" of valuable "junk" in the process.

What attracted me to Prodigal Pieces at first was the business name. What kept me interested is her opening up to share her life with her readers. She shares her beautiful creativity, has tutorials in her blog and takes what was old and makes it new again. I have several of her beautiful pieces decorating my home.
