Distress Paint with Petroleum Jelly

Earlier this week I showed you this vintage chest of drawers and promised you a makeover. To begin with, I thought it would be fun to use this piece to show you how to easily distress paint to create texture and a feel of days gone by. By the way, this chest was featured in Woman's Day magazine - ... READ the POST

Repurposed Wall Clock into Swiss Medical Kit

As I promised last week, I have a fun upcycle for you today using a curbside find. She was driving home and saw that a neighbor had placed this table on the curb, and she knew that my furniture lovin' heart might be interested in the table. I quickly agreed and she said, "Do you want the clock too?" ... READ the POST

Shabby Chic Details for Furniture Makeover

It's been a while since I've done my own furniture makeover since I just recently helped my son and both of my daughters with their furniture makeovers. It's not like I haven't been busy or anything. tsk. One piece that I have finished for a custom order is this Art Deco chest of drawers that has ... READ the POST

Chalkboard Menu from Repurposed Mirror

Being a junker can have so many perks, but certainly one of the downfalls is having enough room for all that you find. I make a rule that if I bring it home it has to find new purpose within six months, or it doesn't come home with me. Well, rules are made for breaking, right? That's because I've ... READ the POST

Card Catalog from Child’s Chest of Drawers

My coined word is #Trashure - one man's trash is another woman's treasure. I've been using it for ages and first debuted it a few years ago when I found a chest of drawers curbside. The subject for this makeover is a child's chest of drawers my daughter found sitting with the trash (aka trashure). ... READ the POST

Larissa looks at things with fresh eyes, she problem solves creatively, and I love how she uses her "stash" of valuable "junk" in the process.

What attracted me to Prodigal Pieces at first was the business name. What kept me interested is her opening up to share her life with her readers. She shares her beautiful creativity, has tutorials in her blog and takes what was old and makes it new again. I have several of her beautiful pieces decorating my home.
