Tackling a spot in your home that needs a thorough cleaning can feel so good, doesn’t it? Kinda like therapy in and of its own. We have the opportunity to get rid of naturally occurring filth like dirt and dust, but then also really evaluate what exists in that space. Once such area I consistently tackle is my workshop. It’s full of dirt and sawdust for sure, but also oodles of potential – of things yet to be. Here is what I chose to work on today from my constant cleaning spot. Do you know what they are? Well, they’re going to become upcycled storage and some DIY wall art. Woot!
I don’t know about you, but I’m super-excited today! Why? Well, today is my first post joining a wonderful group of ladies for Furniture Fixer Uppers. Each month we will be sharing our furniture makeovers to teach, to share, to inspire you. For this month, I’m sharing this vintage piece that is going to get a modern dresser makeover. PLUS, I have a giveaway for you. Yay!
True story, I walked into the thrift store to find only some sweaters to repurpose for my sheep (see here). I pinky swear. As I was heading to the back of the store, the shop lady was on the phone talking to one of the owners telling them that yes, this particular dresser was STILL there and she was to get rid of it. ahem. I halted my tracks and said, “I’ll take it.” Any sane person would have done the same thing.
Earlier this week in my table project post, I promised to show you a furniture makeover that one of my daughters had been working on. Miss E. has never had her time in the spotlight as that is not usually her style anyway. However, I felt the need to share this project for a couple of different reasons. I’d like to show you how she gave this outdated chest nightstand a modern farmhouse chic look. Plus, inspire you to do more.
My awesome parents are always on the lookout for project piece for me or my kids. They know that each time I get a free piece that I pass it along to one of them. You can imagine how excited they get when a new one comes along. To see their past work, you can check out these posts.
Trashure is my word for treasure found in the trash (aka. one man’s trash is another woman’s treasure). Today is Trash to Treasure Tuesday! As I showed you last week, this Mid Century Modern credenza is going to get a new life as an entertainment console. Woot! Just wait until you see what my blogger friends have for you too.
Here’s the story behind my find. I was being a good girl and not even going out junkin’ during our city clean-up. Why, you ask? Because my garage shop is a wreck from our remodel and I have NO ROOM! Plus, I only like to keep on hand what I can work on in the next few weeks.
Anyhoo, it was our quadrant’s time to set out trash and I promised myself that if I saw something en route from my house to errands that I was allowed to pick it up. Only catch was it had to be AFTER all the pickers had already gone through. Otherwise, all was off-limits. So here’s a sampling of some of what I found in one day…eep!
