DIY Child’s Apron from Upcycled Vintage Linens

I am so excited to write this post today because I’m not only getting to introduce you to a group of fabulous ladies, but also share a project that is fun to create. My blogger friends and I are officially launching our Reduce, Reuse, REFASHION fun today. Our goal is to inspire you to whip out that dusty sewing machine, needle and thread, or just plain enjoy watching us create too (for those not sewing minded). My project for you is a DIY child’s apron that can be adapted to kids from 1 to 99.

You know I love a good thrift store haul, and this little bit below is from recent #trashure run. I’m going to attempt to turn it all into an upcycled photo holder. Here’s hoping!

Rustic Farmhouse Wall Art from Flea Market Finds

Who knew such joy can be found in someone else’s junk, right? I mean, I’m all about trashure and potential seen in the left behind. But… I really get excited when I find a piece with potential. (like do a happy dance excited and look around to make sure no one else will take it or steal my idea. hahaha!) I’m a hoot to shop with, in case you didn’t know. Just ask my 6 kids who join me on every adventure. Take a look at this old barn screen because it’s going to be turned into rustic farmhouse wall art. Fun!

Industrial Chest of Drawers Redo ~ Rustic Style

When you’re out shopping do you sometimes buy two of something simply because it’s a good deal? I do! Especially when it comes to furniture. A local seller was offering two chests of drawers that were relatively the same size, but differed in appearance. This one below is my subject for today’s makeover. I’m going to show you how I not only repair this piece, but turn it into an industrial chest of drawers.

This particular dresser was looking like it was embarrassed. It seemed like it was red in the face. When JC brought it home I wasn’t exactly thrilled to see it as the owner didn’t describe it well. First, there was Read more

Flea Market Decor from Repurposed Finds

There are few things in life that I really get excited about. One of them is a true trashure hunt. Every so often I head to the flea market, not looking for the obvious, but the stuff that everyone overlooks. Ya know, the junk. Today, you are in for a treat! It’s Trash to Treasure Tuesday and I’m going to show you what I do with this pile o’ “junk” by turning into flea market decor. You’ll see what my gal friends are up to at the bottom, so sit back and enjoy.

DIY Quilt Rack from Repurposed Parts

Do you ever get inspiration from junk? I mean, like it just kinda begs to be made into something and the vision is real the minute you see it. JC, my husband, does not. Bless his heart…hahaha…ย Heย tries, but is one that needs some direction to see things in a different light. That is what I’m here for, right?! Take this set of bed posts and misfit table legs. Do you see anything there? Let me show you how I turn it into a DIY quilt rack.

First, here’s some background on these pieces. The set of spindle legs came from one of the greatest hauls I ever had. I mention it back in this post from 2014 where I scored Read more

Simple Christmas Decor ~ Rustic Farmhouse Style

After our Thanksgiving events each year, it has become our family tradition to decorate for Christmas. It mainly stemmed from the fact that this is the only weekend my husband, JC, gets an extra day off. And I figure since I take it down the day after, why not start a bit early. My main goal is for simple Christmas decor and this quilt I found at a garage sale is the key my whole schemeย this year.

Worn out Handmade Quilt becomes Upcycled Christmas Decor | Prodigal Pieces | www.prodigalpieces.com

When I saw it at a garage sale I got excited. I love old handmade quilts! However, I wasn’t to excited when I saw how worn it was with holes everywhere, even burns. I felt the history it had and bought it anyway knowing I could use it for some other purpose. While my original intent was to make things for my shop, I decided to Read more
