Farmhouse Fall Bedroom Decor with a Story

The harvest season in full swing and autumn right at our back door, I find it irresistible to bring that beauty inside. Most of us see fit to decorate our living spaces, but I’m curious…do you seasonally decorate your bedroom too? I won’t say I always do due to lack of time. However, today I’m sharing my farmhouse fall bedroom decor.

Waterfall Hope Chest Restored & Renewed

You know it’s a good day when you head out to an old building that has been bought and renovated and they just, “want the stuff outta here”. Musical words to my ears. I couldn’t resist taking a peek at all they had to offer. Of course, this vintage Art Deco waterfall hope chest caught my eye and I had to bring it home.

To say I’m excited for the young couple I got the chest from is an understatement. They purchased a downtown building in my city that has seen many days and ugly updates. However, they are renovating it back to the original glory it once was. We’re talking uncovering the pressed tin ceiling hiding behind a drop ceiling, old wood Read more

Mr I., like the rest of my kids, are building up a savings. Generally, when I get a free piece of furniture I give it to them and they take turns making them over. When looking to create my fall mantlescape for this season, I wanted to stray from my typical fall orange-yellow-red color scheme, like I did for this display a couple of years ago. I craved a simple palette that would help me transition into the seasons yet to come.

It all started with this pile of scrap wood pieces that came from our master bedroom remodel that we revealed this past spring.

When we took down our shelves in our bedroom, I didn’t want to reuse the corbels that were there because they were bulky and took up too much space. So I replaced them with iron brackets instead. Since nothing goes to waste around here, we ended up using those wood corbels for building our window boxes we added this spring as well.  When building the boxes, the original corbels had too large of a profile, so we trimmed them down and left us with that pile above. (Didn’t my hubby do good?)

I have saved them in a box for over a year, becasuse…well…they were cool looking and I knew I could come up with some good use for them other than our burn pile. There were several ideas that came to mind, but then inspiration struck and here’s what I came up with… Read more
